Can you tell us what's happening with the image that has flowing water and what appear to be dippers? are they for washing hands or drinking? Does the bamboo cover the opening? I assume it's fed by a stream? Such an interesting scene, as usual from you.
It is such a shame that Fuji exited the B&W film business. I still have a soft spot for Neopan 1600 and remember the sting when they discontinued it. (Years ago I read of Ansel Adams's frustrations with discontinued film, chemistry and papers, so some things never change I guess.)
I agree with your assessment of 400 speed film btw. It's a good all-around general purpose speed, offering neither the sharpness and detail of a slow film nor the low light flexibility of a fast one. But it can be pushed, pulled or used at box speed to make it work well in almost all lighting conditions without resorting to a specialty film, which is very cool too and many people do exactly that productively.
So if Kodak is cutting back in Japan (why?) and you want a fast-ish non-Kodak film to replace Fuji products you might try Ilford FP4 which is iso 125 and a good quality slow (traditional grain) film. Also Adox is making a range of slow and very slow (iso 20) films now, but they're fairly expensive here. And who knows, maybe Ferrania is getting close to launching their P30 film which has an iso of about 50, very fine grain and an unusual look.
Thanks for sharing your pics!
