Relatives are flying in for Christmas

Today's images come mostly from a neighbor's yard about a half-mile away. We went over to take a look at their hummingbird resort -- with at least 25 feeders going at any one time -- I'm surprised any birds still come to my yard -- I guess we will have to upgrade the amenities!

This is a slow week because many hummingbirds migrate a bit southward for the winter. After yesterday's rainstorm, we "only" saw about 25-30 birds during our visit. Let's take a look:

Hummer hovering near the feeder, waiting for the tower to give him landing instructions for his turn "at A gate".

Landed and preparing to refuel.

Tastes ok, I guess. Check out my new camouflage feathers!

At the B concourse

Stretch

Eating while adjusting balance

And at the C gates:

"My neck isn't really brown, it's red. You just missed the good light"

Across the airport at the civil aviation terminal it's pretty darn crowded today...

Waiting on the apron for a slot to open up.

Scenic detour for picture-perfect bird of paradise blossoms!

Prickly pear in full blossom today.

Christmas Cheers and fortunate flying wishes for those on the go -- hopefully you won't get stuck in a holding pattern...
