I love it very much, except the high price. Now using its less expensive "brother", 5396G at the time being....  

It's a fantastic watch and a great contender of 5140P. I have handled the watch in real and I like it a lot. However, my final preference is a bit smaller and slimmer Patek perpetual. Congratulations for a fantastic watch, Kari

This watch is awesome. If you have the means, then definitely, a classic time piece. I have tried it on, it does speak to me but not as loudly as a couple of others lately but come on... Platinum , perpetual, retrograde, calatrava, what's not too like. En...

What a great scan to have this discussion. All beautiful watches. For me the 5050 has the size elegance and eliminates the cutting issue that FX discussed. It has the sweep seconds which a 5140 does not, while the 5140 has the elegant 240 micro rotor. So,...

The history of this piece really harks back to the original 5050 timepiece made in the 1990s. The 5496P is a temporary reincarnation of this piece in a platinum "96"-style case. Definitely a nice and clean watch for those who liked the 5159 retrograde per...

Its one of the few modern Pateks and I should have stuck to the vintage ones...its too big for me and if I could trade it for a 5050 I would do that. Roni

I liked the 5050 and 5059. This dial is really unbalanced, with a crowded top half, with lots of space on the bottom half. The 5396 has a nicer dial. Just my opinion.

5496 seems to be too "unobtrusive". But some like it hot and some other like it cool. sorry for the poor qualiy pics....  

I would prefer a baton over numeral dial. I was unsure about the newer version, until I saw FX's photo and for me that showed the watch in a completely different light. Would be interested to know whether the bezel is a scratch magnet?
