The 5131 is absolutely amazing…..
But just a bit out of my price range. My first priority for a watch is beauty and style. I have to love the “look and feel”…..After that I consider if it is something that I would wear regularly or just on special occasions. The 3940 is a watch that looks beautiful, but isn’t something I would wear regularly. I have a 5396 that I do wear fairly often.

I owned a 5960a for a while, and I definitely wore it.
There's no big quandary for me, though. I'm not a big enough collector to own something *purely* for collectability's sake. If I'm not comfortable wearing it, *even if* I love it collectability-wise, I won't keep it for long.

I think both are very satisfying to wear. But since you already have a perpetual calendar, instead of the 3970 maybe you could find a manual Patek chronograph. Easier on budget and you won’t have to deal with keeping the date correct. The world timers are...
