As a owner of a 3940 and a 3970..
I think both are very satisfying to wear. But since you already have a perpetual calendar, instead of the 3970 maybe you could find a manual Patek chronograph. Easier on budget and you won’t have to deal with keeping the date correct.
The world timers are wonderful too. I consider them more romantic than practical. One day maybe, until then..

I owned a 5960a for a while, and I definitely wore it.
There's no big quandary for me, though. I'm not a big enough collector to own something *purely* for collectability's sake. If I'm not comfortable wearing it, *even if* I love it collectability-wise, I won't keep it for long.
