You made a wonderful choice by paying a visit to the Museum, H. --- many thanks for sharing your experience, and happy you had a great time! ;-)
As the Patek moderator I'm obviously very familiar with the Museum, and I'm passionately recommending it not only to our Patek fans and collectors, but to ALL lovers of fine horology!
The Museum is arguably home to THE most prestigious private collection in the world, inclusive of many of the finest timepieces the history of this discipline has produced. It spans over four centuries of groundbreaking horology, and showcases a selection of watches both pre- and post-1839, Patek Philippe's birth year. This unique collection, which belongs to the Stern family, was assembled over the course of several decades by the current Honorary President of the company.
Too bad you also didn't have a chance to see the "antique collection," some of the most spectacular non-Patek timepieces that pre-date 1839... Hope you will on the occasion of your next trip down to Geneva!
It's of course possible to visit the Museum privately any time by booking a tour, or better still, you may want to ask your AD for the possibility of receiving a couple of VIP tickets (via your local Patek HQs), so to make this experience even more special. The Museum is also a stop of any organized visit to the Manufacture, again offered to select clients of authorized Patek retailers (some of our Norwegian friends just came back from it, and I understand they had a marvelous time! ;-)
As your Patek moderator, I'm only kindly reminding Everyone to please refrain from posting pictures of the inside of the Museum in the future (it is Patek Philippe's private property, and they made an explicit request to all Guests in this sense).
Thanks again for sharing this! Cheers,
FabR (Patek moderator)
