There shouldn’t be an entry level Patek. Patek should be aspirational. When other entry brands average pricing is 8k, a 40k Patek seems appropriate. Plus one can get a secondary calatrava for half the price. Of course this is IMHO.

So if you see what ppl Are paying in secondary market, you want to eat into that margin as much as possible. I would buy any PP sports watch at retail. And most would as well. So while the prices IS nuts, the market will certainly hold.

I was booking a vacation this last summer and wanted to do the same trip I’ve done 4 times in the past. The cheapest room was now 4x what I used to pay for a nicer room. And the hotel was sold out! Watches are no different. Art is a good parallel as well....

With some brands your money is safe. But most watches you can buy at a discount in secondary market these days. So ppls are willing to pay premium for that security.

Some thoughts about Cubitus. The case and head of the watch are really squarish and sharp angled, almost Brutalist in architectural style. Brutalism is an architectural style using a lot of concrete, and a lot of government/university buildings in the 50s...  

If you look at the significant price increases across the board at Patek Philippe, a Calatrava with date is now $43,000 USD! I'd say the new watch is in line with the current pricing structure. Now, you could make the argument that a 5330 World Time watch...
