I was implying they would use it to justify the price increase of (if I remember correctly) USD 5,000 (!). You see, thousands of highly-trained Swiss elves will have slaved day and night for ages to make that change to the dial, hence why 1) they take so long to service your Patek (all the watchmaker elves are busy) and 2) the price of a 5711 has to go up by one Rolex / 4 grams of gold / a return business class ticket between London and Hong Kong / two-and-a-half cases of Cristal...this is fun, I could keep going...

At first sight, I prefer the previous version whose dial pattern offer a better 3D effect for me. Something to confirm in real with a side by side comparison

Agreed. The dial is unlikely to break and needs replacement.
I guess the question is what if someone prefers the new dial and asks for his/her old to be replaced. I wonder if PP would do it.

Coherence with the other models, and is the 5711 is now 12 years old, any change is welcome. I can’t see the 5711 being in production for 12 more years, so this new dial could end up being highly sought after.
Not sure I like this change either, it's a small thing but it was a nice peculiarity of the blue dial with respect to all other models that's now gone...
I'm also quite curious to see the reaction of the market for the older version (say, in a year from now), it could well be significant if the collectors' reaction will be significant... Best wishes
