Let me explain my POV
Anectode : Had lunch yesterday with 4 guys. All of them had the new Dayto , white dial ! (Hopefully they have all very good tastes because they loved my 5905p black dial ;-) )
My father has it too. My brother too. It's a great piece. Maybe the first new Rolex I like. Because it looks vintage and smaller than regular ones.
But can you really compare this watch in terms of complication, uniqueness, complexity... ? I don't think so.
The Daytona is probably a great piece to wear (I don't own any Rolex except a "toy" one), but aren't they all pretty much the same with a different bezel.....? ;-) kidding. Or...
Massive production too. They have the genius to make rarity, but as far as I know, each relatives of mine who wanted it, got it! My father got even two of them.
Can't deny that this is a genius brand. But IMHO, as Apple is.
the iPhone is rare in the first month of its launch, it's a great product but not in the fine, craft way of Patek.
That is why ................... you need to get both !!!

My opinion
5960 is never really going to be a sports watch. With its 3 bar water resistence, you cannot even afford to take a shower with it. Besides, it cannot be compared to the Daytona in terms of robustness. It is you that can decide how sporty you need it to be...

I also have a Quartz Tag Heuer for that - but I guess the watchprosite police would have me arrested for that. I have not looked closely into Tudor before, but that one was really nice!
tudor is very good value! I would pick a tudor and join the list for the Daytona :)

An interesting dilemma
I well recall you saying just that Nicolas when here in HK. I still have a soft spot for the 1A but I'm not sure I see it as a sports watch in quite the same way as the Daytona.

5960 is a beautiful watch with usable annual calendar on top of the chrono feature. The only thing I dislike is band, which is something a new bracelet/band can easily fix.
