Hi
regarding the first, Nicholas has replied, and it all seems correct.
On the second, perhaps 48 hrs a month is more than sufficient to keep the oils well distributed.
But if want to, you could build yourself a small "strap extension" using the long side of an old strap as in the pic.

you have it all good about the setting of the date. As for the use of the winder, forget it... If you don't use your watch for a while, put in in a pouch, and basta. Like you, your watch needs some rest, and I don't think that letting it run 24 / 24, 365 ...
