Try snapping it in at different angles.

 

The unit looks new and the U piece could very well snap into the hole. Try doing this at different rotations as it may snap in only at a specific angle. Worst come to worst you can send it to Patek for a repair and/or exchange. I have done this before, and they were very accomodating in exchanging it. Good luck. Cheers. Jim

Hi, I have a EMTO wooden winding box that came with my 5140 and last weekend when I went to remove the watch from the winder, I discovered that the U shaped arm that secures the cuff to the winder had become loose from the spindle and was no longer rotati... 

It is better if you put up some pictures.

I have several version of these winding boxes. It is more useful to put a picture or pictures showing the exact problem. The solution may be easier than you may think. Cheers. Jim

This is a picture of the U shaped arm that came loose. It came loose right where it goes into the hole of the winding box....

Thanks for your suggestion; I decided to return it for a new replacement, but if it happens again I will probably try your suggestion first.
