I don't know the answer to this question.
Is/was the Arabic dial change to the 3970 something that was offered as a true factory variant? Or was the idea just something people stumbled across when they realized that a 5004 dial is a simple swap?
And are all the Arabic 3970's out there a result of customers either having enough influence with Patek to convince them to make this change for them, or they located 5004 dials on the after market had it done by their local watchmaker?
The answer to the question gets back to the statement in the first post:
Is an Arabic 3970 trying to be something that its not (by just swapping a dial with another watch because it happens to fit so neatly)?
