3970 with Arabic numerals - Thoughts, Opinions?
I go back and forth on this variant of the 3970.
I generally like Arabic numerals so I'm repeatedly drawn to this style. But I also feel like the watch is trying to be something that its not. At first glance, it looks like a 5004, and can even appear to be a 2499, at least in yellow gold (ok, that second one is a bit of stretch but there are strong similarities).
As far as valuation, I've seen some go for more than a standard 3970 and some go for less. So using value as a gauge of other collector's opinions doesn't provide very much insight. Or maybe it does - everybody else has mixed feelings too!
A red headed stepchild or a rare bird, I can't decide.

I would simply take two pictures - the standard 3970 and the one with Arabic numerals and have a look at those side-by-side several times a day. Then do that again next day and again a day after till I would know for sure. Deciding what you really like is...
