In my opinion Patek were one of if not the first to use Salmon and white metal on special very low production models and were very good at it. I have no doubt we will see more and more using this very popular combination but Patek are still the best at it...
And as you said it's nothing new. Rolex has used salmon dials for ages also. But it's nice to have more choices. Hopefully we see a little more expansion in the available colour palettes.

I do know that Patek were inundated with requests for a 5970 Salmon following the London Exhibition which I am sure helped with their decision on the 5270p dial colour. M.
I still have a year to wait, but the combination of platinum and salmon is just hard to resist. It will be my first platinum Patek and my first perpetual chrono from them.
