The range of the 5236P's dial

The 5236P's dial is a bit of a chameleon.  Depending on the light, it ranges from a demure navy to shimmering and vivid blues.

Last night I had a chance to visit one of my favorite restaurants here in Tokyo, Den Kushi Flori, and captured a photo of the 5236P I was wearing.  In the subtle lighting of the restaurant the dial had an almost flat appearance, hiding the brushing and blue-to-black color gradation that is usually at the forefront.

Additionally, I do highly recommend visiting Den Kushi Flori to any fellow gourmands who live in, or are visiting, Tokyo.  It was started as a collaboration between the chef's of the critically acclaimed restaurants Den and Florilege and brings influences from both sources.  They update their menu about every 2 months, and I always make sure to visit and try each new set of dishes.  Here are some photos I took last night of each course being served on this season's menu:

Ika soumen (squid sashimi noodles) with gazpacho

Summer roll containing conger eel and eggplant

Seaweed salad with fromage mousse

Saba tempura with a sherry cream sauce

Ratatouille and chicken

Chawanmushi (custard) with dashi sauce and ayu (sweetfish)

Clay pot rice with corn and beef

Pudding with green tea cream

I find that it has just enough mass to remind you that it is platinum, but not too much that you rush to take it off when you return home. I also have a 5235 and find its ever-so-slightly smaller size to be more comfortable, but I wouldn’t want to give up...

Thanks for sharing this beautiful 5236 and pics of a wonderful meal

At first glance, I thought that the dial resembles the 5235. Since you have both, do you think so? Or maybe the 5236 shows more chameleon color variation? It's also intersting that you notice the difference in size, with the 5236 being 0.8mm larger. Anywa...

I think the 5235R’s dial is more dynamic

The 5235R transitions between nearly silver, brushed metal, and nearly black very readily. I think the darker color applied to the 5236P’s dial necessarily requires more light to get it to truly shine. I do think the difference in size, even though it is ...

Interesting about the PT.

I can understand that with the PT metal being heavier, a slight difference in size would be noticeable. With my 5235R, if find that the RG metal sometimes reflects on the dial and gives a pinkish bronze look too. Very beautiful and fun to see the chameleo...

Love your photos and narration!

Was at my AD today and they had one on display …to tempt those who appreciate its beauty and technological prowess enough to add an expression of interest. ...

Well, I am hungry.
