The problem with the 5131
is that Patek have adisproportionately long list of people wanting the watch, so they are more or less instructing ADs to take no more orders... The list goes out several years... It is like going into a Rolex AD and asking to be added to the Steel Daytona list in that regard. Some will if you know them VERY well, and most just won't bother with you.
I am sure that there would be a more welcoming answer for many of the other models you don't routinely see in the windows, but the 5131 has so much hype. Personally, I think it is overvalued and over pursued...

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL WITH THE 5131?
- yes, I know it's got a special hand painted dial? - It's pretty (like most Pateks) - But WHAT is this amazing desperation for it?

But upon reading through and searching through the net, I learned that it is a sought after model because of the cloisonné dial, which is unique and only a few artisans can do it.

I imagine the dial will be copied on a Chinese production line by artisans doing painting by numbers.

The ceramic work on the watch is no better art than any elaborate hand made dial. The list price of Patek is a testament to that reality. If Patek felt that this really is a rare art, they would not even think a nanosecond to jack up their MSRP. As a Chem...
