Hi, which type of straps do you prefer with your 5712g ? By the way, what do you call these straps (the non alligator ones) ? Does it come standard with 5712G purchases ? Thanks...  

But, I would prefer the aligator strap on that one.. The other one, looks like calf, or is it more of a ruberized calf type? Best, Sam

Black croc with gray stitching, black tropical strap, and a "donated" cocoa brown strap that comes with the 5712R. I prefer the tropical strap is it dresses the watch down and puts it well under the radar and is the most comfortable of the 3.

Mate, unfortunately mine is the not the best version of the 5712 ie the SS version. Mine is only a 5712R.. One more shot.. Sorry this is just a very random shot.. HAGWE.. Cheers! .. James ...

You got the best of the very best!! .. I should add that PP's tropical strap is very comfortable and completely waterproof .. I wear mine playing golf, swim and jacuzzi everyday! .. Cheers! .. James

...since about 2008 I think. First versions of 5712G resp. R didn´t have it come along. The 5712GR gets the brown one of the 5712R.

I really like the classic calatrava cross buckle and i am not a big fan of the square NAUTILUS buckle currently on the model. ANyone know if there is an alternative buckle that will fit that bears the cross logo? TIA

I asked and was told it only came with the Nautilus deployant. I'm sure you could buy a wg deployant from PP - just make sure it fits the strap width!

I prefer the tropical strap as they are rubber coated and can with stand the sweat of your wrist and be worn in the water...plus they look pretty cool with the matt finish

i recently acquired a new 5712G and love it, however Tiffany's here says they have to send it to NYC to have the rubber strap put on. I have the both straps here and jeweler's tools, can I do it myself? All it looks like are small flat head screws.

But I always take it to the dealer who told me on Day 1 that he would much prefer to do it for me. Takes 10 minutes and it's done. You could do it yourself, I'm sure.

Does anyone know if additional composite tropical strap could be purchased individually? And how much? Does it last longer than leather?
