An aspirational Rolex turns into several… followed by desire for PP or AP (or both) and then discovery of smaller but iconic brands (FPJ for me). I’m going to guess that the destination will come full circle at some point. And don’t even get me started on vintage vs modern watches. This reminds me of wine collecting - most (in US) start with California cabs and end up in burgundy…

For me it's a return to simpler, more affordable watches
Same for cars and many other things in life. Value for money, affordable luxury and generally streamlining and letting go to make my life simple.

I have moved lock stock barrel to artisanal watches. I love the efforts made by these artisans and every artisanal watch represents their sweat and toil into the finished product. I still buy the odd Rolex though.
