In my experience, diameter is not everything regarding how „big“ a watch looks. It‘s also about factors like Dial size, dial color and lug size. The 5140 seems to have longer lugs so I am hoping it looks ok, especially with a silver or grey dial.

If you knew the lug width and approximated the lugs, with a little time and attention you could construct a stencil out of thick paper. It will not give you thickness or depth, but will yield a decent idea of surface area. I just did this exercise for my ...

I used to own a 5140G and a 5196P. Both 37mm on paper. The 5196P wore visually 2mm larger than the 5140G. On my 17.5cm wrist I thought the 5140G was perfection in size... it is a superb piece in every iteration... for choice I love the blue P and the brow...

5140’s official diameter was 37. 2mm actually 😂 But as other folks have mentioned, it does wear larger than it seems, lug-to-lug length is 45.7mm. If you’re looking for white metal, a plus point to consider is 5140Ps came with exhibition back unlike the 3...

3940 would be the better choice. It is the original and has a much more refined dial.
