5100 is certainly a VERY special watch and there is nothing like it in the PP catalog for a long time (case shape, power reserve, shaped caliber etc). It's a classic.
Had a chance to try out the 5100R for the first time while I was in Geneva last week. Very beautiful watch, but like you, the vintage mood that this watch evokes in me calls more the more traditional yellow gold version....at least for me.
With my recent FPJ purchases, I thought I had to part with mine, but after all, I am glad that is not going anywhere, anytime soon.
