I'll be a little bit controversial and suggest that neither watch is the one to get.
What you need is a perpetual calendar and the obvious choice, at this price point, is the iconic 3940.
Given the choices and your current watches, I would go R here
Although I like the G more, but it could overlap a little bit with your 5960G if you dress it up with a dark strap. If you're looking for a dressier watch, R is beautiful if you like it. In my case, I prefer white metals. Anyway, I would recommend you to ...

Had an iwc to sell and only this was the watch to exchange with. Was new unworn. I guess I made the right r also looks good but love the g after holding it in my hand ....and it is quite different from the 5960g...more formal
