I'll be a little bit controversial and suggest that neither watch is the one to get.
What you need is a perpetual calendar and the obvious choice, at this price point, is the iconic 3940.
Given the choices and your current watches, I would go R here
Although I like the G more, but it could overlap a little bit with your 5960G if you dress it up with a dark strap.
If you're looking for a dressier watch, R is beautiful if you like it. In my case, I prefer white metals.
Anyway, I would recommend you to explore different references, like the 5170, as I see too many similarities between 5205 and 5960 in terms of overall look and presence on the wrist.

White and blue...red and black...totally different so it is matter of personal preference purely...

It took me a year to pull the trigger. I went for the G but would go for the R too. Difficult choices. Same watch but yet oooh so different.

Had an iwc to sell and only this was the watch to exchange with. Was new unworn. I guess I made the right flip.the r also looks good but love the g after holding it in my hand ....and it is quite different from the 5960g...more formal
