Sure, agree that if someone (not me! :-) is willing to pay a premium on the 5711 or the Aquanaut, then it might well make more sense to do it with the 5522...
The 5522 is certainly more exclusive (600 pieces vs. several thousand and counting), and also less "commercial", which is more and more important to me. Actually, to be entirely open with you, this 5522 was offered to me at $55k in 2017...by a jeweler sitting *right across* one of Boston's two ADs (if you know Boston's downtown geography, you've understood). I'm sure someone did eventually buy the 5522 for that price (which is still entirely within the market price), but I just promised myself to never buy above MSRP, save exceptional circumstances... So far I got lucky and always bought from ADs, let's see if I will always be able to keep my promise. ;-)

I heard the newer 5524/7234R are quite popular, more so than the 5524G. I feel PP did the right thing to discontinue many Calatrava models this year, although I was hoping the 5196P to be gone but it stayed... Anyway, I’ll still enjoy the little heft too....

This is a tough one for me.
I'm a sucker for time-only watches as well as for retro-inspired pieces. I also love the dial and font on the Patek 55xx. The size imho would have been better 1-2mm smaller, although as a Pilot watch reference, 42mm might still be ok. But I do find it ver...
At times, I like to be a contra player....although my luck sucks at stock market :(
For the watch, like you side, it is un-Patek which to me is the charm. I actually had a co-worker commented "Nice watch" yesterday when I wore it at work and when asked about the details, he googled it and was floored.... Thanks a lot Daniel.
