Small wristshot of my recently acquired PP3940J and some questions
Hello all,
Just subscribed here, so this is going to be my first post, and for the occasion, I will post a wrist-shot of my recently acquired PP3940J
I have a couple of questions about this model :
- I know the classification of all 3940 produced into 3 series and I also know (I guess...) the visual differences between the series (the "J", the quarter lines, the "sigma swiss sigma" below or on the dots circle etc), as well as how to determine a series by movement+case numbers (see for instance http://data.antiquorum.com/eng/flip/spring2006_vox/files/mobile/index ) but my model thrills me : first it is a genuine PP ;-) Year 1989 + movement number in the 770701-771500 range, indicating that it is a second series. But, as you see, it is a model for the italian market, and you may remark that the inner leap year subdial do not have a "+" separation into 4 quadrants which I thought all second series should have. Other remark : I may be wrong, but after inspection with a x15 magnifying glass, it seems that the subdials are cut in the "global" dial, fact that normally characterizes the first series... Would anyone have precisions/hints/details ?
- In the aforementioned link, there is no mention about the number of pieces produced across series : does anyone have informations about it ?
Thanks in advance,
LvM

Indeed your papers (nice to have the original ones btw) won't tell much more. About the Patrizzi, they stop before the 3940 in their introduction paragraph so I could just see an illustrating picture of a 3940 with the reference and date... no much more i...
Funny indeed

Yes, as do the Huber and Banbery, which nevertheless provides a nice "exploded" picture of the 240Q caliber. Thank you for the link, already have it I was also at the salon around 12h yesterday, funny indeed. Are you the person that said hello to Elisa wh...

Actually, the watch hasn't been serviced in Paris, nor in Geneva. In Paris they told me that one should ask directly to the manufacture, which seems to be a long process, even if I don't think they will accept to lose time for this. Did you already try su...
