Then 31mm feels quite alright. Helps that the case is made of gold too. I had tried on a stainless ref 96 with a sector dial. That 'feels' smaller.

The auction house from which I purchased the watch, Dr. Crott of Mannheim Germany, says it's made in 1952. Aesthetically, a lot of the older (30s on) reference 96s have a closed sub seconds dial, whereas the latest reference 96s have printed minute marker...

A perfect watch
I have a 3796G and 3923J. Both the same size. They are a joy to wear and very legible and functional.
