My first pocket watch... appreciate thoughts as I have not figured out what I really want to do with it and what direction that will take me. Thank you all. ...

An interesting journey for sure when one ...

goes down the vintage (?) pocket watch road. You have officially passed the point of no return ! 🤣

Thanks Gordon!

I am so off the charts that there’s no return... question is, am I getting worst? :0)

Not worse...but...

...one of these fine pocket watch movements and giving them to an independent watchmaker to apply enhanced movement finishing and recasing them as a 40-41mm wristwatch, possibly with a custom enamel dial. Like a modern day restomod. Unfortunately most of ...

Thanks Euroasianstar!

I have yet to open up the watch... like you, I was drawn to the movement from the sales photo. Modding will be a step to deep for me :0) ... a good thought though. Thanks! ...

What is the diameter?

Not sure what your style is like. But I would get a nice gold chain to hang it from. You don’t have to go crazy, but something secure. Then if you are casual, you keep in pants pocket and let chain hang out like wallet chain. If you are more dressy, same ...

Thanks Roger!

I like the chain idea and will look out for one. It’s a small pocket watch - 43mm. Not sure about power reserve - only received the watch yesterday; don’t think it’s anywhere near what we are used to with modern timepieces.

Modern PP pocket watches look like they have 50hrs power reserve. My Elgin is over 100 years old. So I was told, wind at breakfast, wind at lunch, wind at dinner. Not really practical. Not sure what older PP are like power reserve wise. But it looks great...

Love the case! This is a case somewhat similar to the 5070 wristwatch.

Run away now! Or else you'll really get tangled in this slippery slope. You won't buy too many pocket watches because they're difficult to use. If you put it in your pocket be careful that it doesn't fall out when you pull out your phone or wallet. Get a ...

Thanks Patrick. Told myself a minute repeater next and that’s it :0)

Yes will get a chain and also a stand.

For wristwatch, I am focused on AP Supersonnerie.

For pocket watches, I think vintage Patek Philippe is an interesting proposition.

Gotcha!

Very cool watch! Having a Sonnerie really helps you keep track of time if you can hear it. Sometimes hours pass and then you notice the watch chiming; you're all of a sudden reminded it's time to stop working and go home!
