Patek Philippe 5070J Saatchi / London Edition.

We know that the Yellow Gold version came with a superb black dial, for a very attractive chromatic combination.

Here, we have a micro edition of 5 pieces, issued in 2015, associating the yellow gold case with a superb, very elegant brown sunburst dial.

Credit pictures: A Collected Man.

I played with the first picture to focus on the dial...

But the best picture is just eye catching... This one:

Recently sold, I hope that the happy owner is one of us... We'll probably have many opportunities to see this beauty.

Best,

Nicolas

and I was surprised it sold for a whooping 240.000 euro in less than a week If the owner is 'one of us' and doesn't like the fact I told the price ... please delete the number

Wow stunning at epic level. [nt]

The more think about...

... the 5070 the more I like it. This color combination is particularly nice. I just cannot get around the problem of the size. The watch looks a bit silly on the wrist as it is just too large. What a pitty. This size will age very badly, I am afraid :-(

IMHO considering everything 5070 and Datograph

are the best Chronograph. My mind can't stop battling as they best each other perpetually in recto and verso. So hard to tell which one is best as they both are perfect in different way.

Aaah +1,+1,+1 [nt]

Somehow I am a bit afraid of to 16.29

Due to the bad stories about it

I'd seen this on A Collected Man when it came up for sale. It's really beautiful, really beautiful.

I don't under the 5070 however, and I realize I'm not alone as there appear to be two very distinct camps in terms of opinion on this reference. For me, the answer is as simple as yours perhaps. Size. For me it's too big, for you it is not. I will concede...

Thanks, Jay. For me, size doesn't matter. When I owned the Vacheron Les Historiques Chrono, I was very happy with its 37 mm case. Same for the 42 mm case of the 5070.

Now, if we consider the size of the movement related to the size of the case, I see your point. 2 or 3 mm less would be better... BUT the magic of the 5070 is that its flaws are its strength... Curiously. A bit like the Datograph. Best, Nicolas

I love the J with black dial so much. Inspired in the original splits and great vintage charm. I dream frequently about adding one to sit along my 5070P. As to the London editions, frankly for me it’s salmon white gold or nothing and that goes for 5070, 5...

LOL. Too kind. [nt]

Really interested to see more London Editions as they so very rarely come up.
