But now I want to say some important things....
1) Buying a watch is an intensely personal issue. The more I have collected, the more I have realised that whenever I put a watch that I own on my wrist, there should be a frisson of excitement and fun involved. I have known you for several years now....and for several years i have known that a specific watch (just the mention of it) made your eyes glint. THIS is what watch collecting is about.
2) One can take a number of approaches to collecting. One can have 10 watches that all provide 80% fulfillment and fun. Or an alternative is to have 5 watches that provide 90%. Or one watch that gives it all. The longer I have done this, the more i err to that latter case. As we discussed, life is short and compromise is grubby. My hat is off to you Mike for going down this path.
3) There are many beautiful watches in this world. Within Patek Philippe there are many beautiful watches. This one, for me, is the absolute pinnacle of the lot. If i had to have just one watch, it would be this one and in this metal. It represents the most exquisite, refined, pure and balanced perpetual calendar ever made for me. You now share that very same and quite unique opinion.
Mike, all i can say is ...enormous congratulations to you. Tremendous.
