is very superficial. One watch can be a great collection as can several. You will be taken as serious as you are about your watch (s). Not much more to it than that. The serious PP collecting still centers on the older watches which were made in very limited numbers from 1925 thru 1980.
How many Pateks do you need to own to be taken seriously as a Patek collector?
Hello Patek People, I am curious how many Pateks do you need to own to be taken seriously by a) other collectors and b) the Patek dealer or saloon ? I understand some people would say you don't need to own any..... but have the love in your heart........ ...

I don’t think it’s the absolute number of pieces initially that makes an AD serious about you. I think it has more to do with the frequency that you buy new pieces from the AD Thanks

Unfortunately it will not get you anywhere with an authorized dealer. Therefore you might be hard-pressed to get on the list for a rare piece.
I don't really think numbers are the right metric here, or even the dollars spent (though they help a lot :-)...I guess for most people the criterion is the "significance" of a collection...
What "significance" entails then is of course more subjective -- according to some it will imply owning references of historical value for the brand, for others just the "hottest" models on the market, for others unique/rare pieces, etc. etc.. But this is...

I don’t think you can call yourself a collector until you have more than one. Having respect as a collector has nothing to do with the number of pieces you own and everything to do with attitude and approach. That’s my thought anyway. Cazalea
Buyers only require cash, Collectors need brains and knowledge of watches.
I personally dont think the number of watches or Patek you own reflect your status as a true collector but the knowledge and history you know about watches. A billionaire buyer could own hundreds of Pateks without having a clue of how his watches work or ...

It makes me anxious to contemplate questions like this. I have worked for 40 years and am the proud owner of exactly 1 PP. And you, Archie, should be EXTREMELY satisfied with your great collection. Enjoy them in excellent health.
