Tradition is nice but for me not the most important. I buy what I can afford and what I like. If Patek would make a massive diver watch (like a ROO). a new model so it doesn't need to be a big nautilus ... well I would probably buy it.
There is a watch they still havan't made and that is a real diver ( 300 or 500 M).
