My understanding

 

is that means the physical movement was manufactured/rough assembled in 1973 and then kept in storage until being adjusted, cased and sold in 1984.  This was apparently a common practice, I've seen plenty of older pateks with a decade or more lag, the most obvious, of course, are the competition tourbillon movements which were made in the late 1950's and not cased until the 80s....
