My pleasure, here's my one and only "JB" (ref. 5089G-020, for the 175th Anniversary)....given that it's still a one-man show, wood marquetry wristwatches have become more and more rare, but I sincerely wish you one of these marvels in the future!! :-)
The slivers of wood on the dial are something incredible (clearly visible with a loupe, but very hard to capture in the pictures!

Thanks for sharing this marvel Tempus, I have no doubt you had a terrific time at the Salons!! :-) I always say that Patek's Rare Handcraft production represents THE highest possible encounter between art and horology....
...but I think there is little doubt that the level of this year's offering is also one of the best ever, across the board! I have a wood marquetry piece by J.B. as well (he's the only artist allowed to make these creations for Patek), and it is LITERALLY...

Many thanks, I was incredibly lucky to be allocated one of these, as I believe no Rare Handcraft collection can be complete without a little treasure in wood marquetry, but it is, by far, the rarest of all crafts! ;-)
And you are totally right that we haven't seen many in recent years. Out of curiosity, I went back and checked some of the material (most of which I'm afraid is unpublished as I wasn't the moderator yet, and Patek doesn't include everything on its officia...

The Falcon Head is amazing in its intricacy and accuracy. It boggles my mind to think how this was made, which is why I love this craft so much!

+1, it totally is! ;-) As per its official description, it is handcrafted in J gold with the arch and its ornaments representing liana, set with a faceted yellow sapphire, while the base of the stand is in black ebony...
Arguably an exquisite artwork in its own right, not bad to display in a living room or even an office! Cheers.
