Middle Age for Me=51

I am 51, though it seems I was only recently 40. The past decade flew by. I began to feel middle age at 45. That's when I noticed a lower energy level, ( I couldn't stay up all Saturday night anymore). I had to get stronger glasses, and my personality mellowed somewhat. And, I might add, the primal drive was not as intense. I could look back a little and survey the stages of my life. Up until then, I was always looking forward only. One of the benefits of my middle age is that I have much more money than I had as a younger person, and can now indulge a few of my bad habits, such as to occasionally pick up a nice new watch. As far as the appearance of a watch goes, I did not want yet another watch with an overwrought dial, big date or complication. It was time for something, understated, elegant and refined. Patek did a nice job with the 5196. I actually prefer the gold models over the platinum models as the gold has a more refined appearance.

Today, I visited a jeweler in New Jersey, without any intention of buying a new Patek, but buy one I did. I saw the 5196 in rose and yellow gold. I bought the rose gold one with a brown strap. The rose gold on the silver dial is beautiful and understated....
