Patek Philippe

Lovely piece but way too heavy and thick and has few issues for me ...

After 5050, for some reason Patek never got it right again. Never understood why they had to tamper with perfection.

Once the 5050 movement was placed into an officer's case, things went south because the watch needlessly become heavy and problems arose because a smaller movement is fitted into larger cases.
5059 was way too thick for the diameter and heavy. The printed roman numerals were ok, but applied markers give the piece better depth imo.
5159 is still thick at 38 mm and heavy. I had the 5159 G for only 8 months, could not stand the weight on my arm. Fortunately, I was able to find my dream pc and without hesitation sold the 5159G.
The dial of the 5159 is certainly pretty, but also had some issues for me: 1. the cut off the dates 15 and 17 is too obvious and annoying. They could have made the leap year indicator window smaller to fix this, but didnt; 2. Day and month windows are of different size, so are the font sizes. This breaks the symmetry of the dial as well; 3. The red tip of the date indicator hand simply does not fit to the overall design; 4. The hour hand tip is too thick in comparison to the minutes hand thus diminish the harmony for the dial.
This is not a dailywear for me due to its weight. However, a good watch to look once in a while.
Maybe I am too picky, but a pc from Patek should not have any issues imo.
Cheers Jim

Note: The retrograde hands moves CCW  !
