Criticisms of the 5159g from an owner.

I wanted to love this watch or I wouldn't have purchased it, but in hindsight the most fun was the screen saver and the long wait time before I received it double sealed from my AD.
Here are a few reasons this watch gets zero wrist time.
1. The dial is too small to read. I don't wear reading glasses in day to day life, but if I want to see the dial on the 5159G, I must put them on. The indicators for the day, month, date and leap year are tiny.
2. The retrograde hand can be confused with the hour hand.
3. The watch is slightly top heavy. It doesn't rest perfectly on the wrist.
4. The movement is rather standard. It's the same base 324SC I have in my other Pateks with a hidden perpetual module. There isn't much inventive to open the dust cover to see a movement you are accustomed to seeing. As such, I've never opened the dust cover.
5. The watch lacks a fun factor. Because of the thick case, you can't hear that magical Patek zzzzz when the movement winds and there isn't any opportunity for human interaction. You don't get to wind the movement nor are there any buttons to push.
Personally I've lost interest in perpetual calendars. Despite being an iconic complication, they aren't terribly practical. Most collectors who are at the level of owning Patek perpetual calendars have quite a few other watches in their collection and when the perpetual is set aside, it requires quite a few steps to set it again for use.
I've never set the watch. In fact the pusher is still sealed. Soon after removing the watch from it's seal, I realized this just wasn't the watch for me.
A 5170R will be it's replacement.
