Just to be clear...

 

... I quite like the one *without* the diamonds; my beef is with the bling version. But obviously I’m not going to get the diamondless 5711 either, because Patek decided not to build the capacity needed to supply demand. Which is a shame for me and countless others. It’s also hard to understand why Patek constrained supply as it did, because modestly increased output on this model would have been profit-maximizing for them. As it stands, the lion’s share of the profits — the delta between the retail price and the secondary market price — will go to third-party gray-market dealers. But trying to make economic sense of anything involving the 5711 is a fool’s errand ...

It is not yet my style to have ice on the bezel because only in recent years that I accepted diamond hour markers which are discrete enough (5711 40th and 5170P) for me. Perhaps in time.

That’s an amazing watch.

It's a reasonable opinion, which you expressed politely, so be reassured that it's 100% welcome on WPS ;-) (Note: Of course I *completely* disagree with it, but that's a different story! ;-))

Ironically, at the cost of sounding equally dramatic, it might be more of an issue in the short term that these two new 5711s received such an overwhelmingly *positive* response since we presented them three nights ago, even though I'm obviously very happ...

Why the 5711 production is "limited" (very relatively speaking, especially for Patek's standards) is a topic we discussed and analyzed countless times, but I can understand your disappointment if you'd like a given watch and can't get it allocated.
