I got an alligator J. Rousseau strap which was custom fitted, using their own steel buckle.; my watch is a 5960P model. The strap sort of sits in an oval, touching my wrist at the sides, leaving lots of space for air below the watch and below the buckle. A friend remarked that they seem to be using leather which is rigid near the watch and flexible at the buckle, it's a clever trick of some sort.
BTW, I don't think it would be dishonorable to just stick the watch on a metal band. Rolex straps are ok, and very available, and even the steel straps on the Rolex forgeries sold on the street are perfectly functional.
