The 3970p is a keeper only to appreciate over the time, a far better long term hold.

but would regret such a trade later. If you have other watches or toys that could fund the 5131, then you could scratch that itch without parting with a watch that you so clearly are happy with. Personally, I would not make such a trade. The enameled dial... 

the owner of the 5131 is trying to ake a profit.... In my opinion this is more likely..... I think that it is a pity that several 5131 were sold to people that intended to simply make a profit...... Sad... Cheers

put up some big bucks to get it, but clearly, he is willing (maybe eager) for such a trade to take place. I agree with your comment regarding the profit-taking on this reference and many others as well.

I'll surely keep the 3970P and wait until I can get a 5131 at list. What if the price never comes down? I'd rather not have it.

Look up HYPE in Websters and you might see a picture of a 5131 (though no doubt a special watch). 3970 (esp in PT) is a solid classic.

I think I agree and see your point about 3970. I personally think I will regret parting with 3970 as well. I guess I have to test my luck and hopefully get one at list price. The 5131 is a very cool watch at its list price level.

... I would not part with it just for an enamel dial.... if you strip the 5131 of its enamel dial it suddenly becomes a very ordinary watch versus the 3970. So if it were me, I would keep the 3970, it is so much more elegant, refined and complicated.

I am a huge fan of the 3970 and worldtime. I fully appreciate the complexity of creating such a magnificent enamel dial but too just see the watch as a basic worldtime with a fancy dial. The 3970 is a perpetual calendar chronograph, which is an amazing ac...

Hello, although I would long to possess a ref 5131 I would clearly prefer a 3970 P if I had to choose! I never pay more than retail - time will tell ... we have often seen prices "come back" after some time of speculation... just my 2 cents erich

I think it is very easy to buy a 3970 right now and not so much with the 5131. Enjoy the the 5131 for a while and if you like the 3970 better I'm sure there are a several dealers that would willingly trade you back in a heart beat because they will look a...
