It's because the Patek's reset force doesn't come from the reset pusher.

 

I’m not a watchmaker, but I can give a definitive answer on this.


When you start the CH 29-535 you also cock the hammers, which are in place by a latch. When you press the reset button the latch releases the hammers. Note how the hammers sit home against the heart cams after being reset. With the Lange L951 when you press the reset button that force pushes the hammers against the cams, and when you release the hammers fall away from the cams.


Fun fact: On the CH 29-535 if you hold down the reset button while its running the minutes counter won’t advance.
