Patek Philippe

Both are good.

I press the top button with the pad of my finger, and the bottom button with the side of my finger, so I think a heavy top button is okay, but a heavy bottom button would be uncomfortable. Patek’s top heavy and Lange’s balanced style are both good by me. I’ve tried Lange’s triple split, on that watch the hammers need to move a lot more mass but I don’t remember the bottom button being uncomfortable to press.

Lange’s original L951 reset system, you push the hammers directly onto the heart cams, which is the traditional way of doing flyback, but I don't like it. Many years ago Lange upgraded the L951 with a new two-part hammer design, which I like a lot. Patek’s system is pretty traditional for a non-flyback but I like the self-adjusting hammers. So once again, both are good.

These are pictures of the two hammer designed for the L951, the Dato perpetual (non tourbillon) still uses the one part design, all others have been upgraded to the two part hammer.
