I haven't seen it in the metal and I know that watches show usually much more in real.
This being said, when the first front pictures were released, I didn't like it (though I like this grainy blue dial we see also in the 5524G or the recent 5960G). Too simple for my taste and I'm not fan of Pilot watches in general. Just a question of personal type of style I'm used to.
However, when I saw the other pictures showing the case+bezel's design, I found it quite appealing.
If it had been in white gold I would have liked it too (maybe better) as I like the hue of WG, especially on the 5168G and 5524G. Of course the steel material is more true to the theme.
The problem for me is the 42mm size that doesn't fit my habits.
In the end, if someone likes this style of casual watch in steel and size, this is I think a great offer. Especially considering the special side of a limited output.
But, as always, being a limited Patek influences me. That's not a "purist" thing but I guess this is natural when we like what this brand has offered for decades.
In the end, if it was offered to me, I would say yes. If it had been a new watch in the current regular collection, I wouldn't because of the size mainly.
Of course when it comes to Patek, the brand and limited edition will always create something more for a watch and people will buy it.
That's why it is important to really take a little time to ask ourselves what we really like, what we really want and do we wish to keep that budget for another one from the past or current collection or for a future novelty (even if we always take into account value, that's natural).
I think it is a very nice model, but not really for me

If I have the watch is nice,Steel and simple and a simple modern nautilus in steel with the same caliber is not I am convinced with all the pros but nothing of the cons you the watch sings to you buy it,Don't think if all the people will like it or not...
I would take one
even though I am not into sports watches. It is a relatively budget Patek watch that can be worn in different occasions. It would be in demand even if it was limited to 6,000 pieces! The fact that it is limited to 600 makes the watch far too sought after ...

This piece has its own charm as evident from much of the buzz you mentioned and from what I've read thus far.
Having not seen it in the metal but only from photos, it would be way way down my bucket list... But as the saying goes, "never say never" you wouldn't know if the heart grows fonder after setting your eyes on the actual piece.

I was looking at it in three different occasions. It's a very nice watch but not so special. To my taste a little bit big. However, for me it's useless to speculate. I asked from London Salon and one of the bosses of Patek's head office if I could get one...

Thank you Patek for selling via US AD's. This is not any different during the London show. It didn't help to be an American then. Now it's our turn to get a special piece!
