there is any hesitation at all in getting the piece due to the bling, I would pass. Why? Because this hesitation is most likely due to the fact that diamonds being worn by men on their watches has not transferred to mainstream acceptance thus this sense of apprehension on your side. Diamond earrings, gold watches are a yes in some areas/locales but diamond encrusted watches? Takes more than a certain oomph to pull it off. The bling is looking to turn out to be THE BIG factor in spoiling your purchase, if not today, then somewhere down the road when it is gathering dust in your watch drawer/safe. I would pass. Just my own two cents.
PATEK 5971, should I get it?
Any thoughts on 5971? My AD offers me the watch but not sure if I should get it. I know this piece is very hard to get and I do like the watch even though it has the bling. Not sure if 5970p would be availabe in the future and still not sure if I was able...
In My Opinion
I personally think the 5004 is the watch you want to get if you have a choice. While the 5970 is a tremendous piece, I personally think the split chronograph is a greater feat in watchmaking. The 5971 as opposed to the 5970 are two very different watches....
I have to agree with what most other members have........
already stated and that is either to wait for Basel and see what happens. Or go with either a 5970 or a 5004. The 5971 is a great watch, if it didn't have the bling! I love the black dial, but have never liked to see diamonds,Baguettes etc on a gents watc...

Is it official that 5004p is out of production, what about 5004G? I guess I should seriously consider 5971p if 5004 is out of production unless there is a new model 5970p at the Basel 2009. Thanks!
