I think it would be prudent to get into a habit of adjusting
any of the complicated pieces at 6am as the factory as recommended.
It's not so much that some deviations are okay but it's the consistency which is important. If you learn to do it the right way at the beginning and continue that process going forward, the probability of having any issues with quick change adjustments will be almost nil. It may be a pain in the butt and somewhat time consuming but one lapse of memory in haste can wind up being costly.

For moonphase, it's important to do it in the AM sometime around 3AM to 8AM. In my opinion. The moonphase mechanism in most annual and perpetual calendars is moving right around 10AM. I wouldn't adjust anything 8PM to 2AM.
