Obviously the Split second Chronograph is harder to make than the Perpetual Calendar Wristwatch ie 5959 vs 3940 or 5970. How was the old time vintage price different on the Ref# 1436 Split Second. Aparently 165 Ref# 1436 Watches made from 1938-1971 and the 179 Watches of the 2438-1 and the 2497 made from 1951-1963? I am guessing that Patek Philippe considered the Ref# 1436 a much more specialized piece than the 2438-1. Does anyone know what patek retailed way way back the 1436 compared to the 1518 and the 2499 and the 2438-1? Was the 1436 the biggest most prestigious watch that Patek Produced at the time other than the minute repeaters? And of course the 3 perpetual calendar split second minute repeaters. When I am talking prices I am not talking today auction prices I am talking old time retail from the good old days when everything good was affordable. The old patek philippe prices when pieces where sold.
