Hi! Do you all leave your chronograph running on your 5905s and 5960s?...

I don\'t see a reason why the chronograph shouldn\'t run constantly. I think that it is better to run it constantly then never, keeps the lubricants and the movement going. IMHO off course.

In fact it is a question of timekeeping and wear and tear of the movement parts. A usual horizontal clutch system is not something to let run permanently (now, if you make servicing regularly, there is not problem and the owner should do as he likes): mor... 

As for your question, I think if I get a 5960 that I would do both. Sometimes leaving the second hand running for more animation on the dial and having a look on the parts slitghtly hidden when the hand is at its 0 position, and sometimes just standing re... 

Well, thank you for this advice. Patek says you can make it run but a Non-AD told me not to today. ADs say all kind of cr** so I needed to check... And do both. Sometimes it runs sometimes no. Personal mood depending

I think for the 5960 caliber, it allows the second hand to be running without damaging the mechanism. I recall this is not recommended for some brands and calibers, hence need to check first. As for me, I'm like you, depends on the mood..

By the way which telephone/camera did you use? As far as letting the chrono run all the time, I agree with Mark and Kari... I would not do it Best G.

As soon as you get some light, you can have nice shots. When there\'s no light, it\'s useless.

I just like much more when the seconds hand is operating when I use the chronograph. This is purely a personal preference. Best, Kari

I only use as a chrono...

I do it on my 5960 but also on the 5980 and 5990, never had a problem with it, in fact PP says that it perfectly ok to let the seconds hand run.
