About chrono running
In fact it is a question of timekeeping and wear and tear of the movement parts.
A usual horizontal clutch system is not something to let run permanently (now, if you make servicing regularly, there is not problem and the owner should do as he likes): more wear of the wheels and has a little impact the watch's accuracy.
The 5960 references have the 28-520 calibers with vertical clutch. The way it is made by Patek allows to make the chrono running permamently with much less wear and tear and with less impact on timekeeping.
But do as you like, as long as you know it
Cheers, Mark

Well, thank you for this advice. Patek says you can make it run but a Non-AD told me not to today. ADs say all kind of cr** so I needed to check... And do both. Sometimes it runs sometimes no. Personal mood depending

I think for the 5960 caliber, it allows the second hand to be running without damaging the mechanism. I recall this is not recommended for some brands and calibers, hence need to check first. As for me, I'm like you, depends on the mood..
