Patek Philippe

and beautiful lugs by Patek. While a bit off topic it reminds me of a watch I owned with “hooded” lugs. The images are not great but they add to a storied history when Patek IMHO showed greater aesthetic creativity and a less predictable approach. Don’t t...

Great idea about a post on the pieces of the 40's and 50's. It seems it was the era and not just Patek.

This ref. 1585 is delightful, especially in this rose on rose configuration. I could find some more photos of it, as well as of a black dial variant. I might do a separate post on these surprising references with unusual lugs and cases (like ref. 539, 540...  

and the possibility that it might inspire you to do a post on that subject. Should you choose to do so I think it will be an incredible post on its own merits. It also will contrast the Patek of today with the Patek of the 1940s/1950s considered by many t...

With Arabic numerals, I would personally pick the first 1578 on the list. And I would choose the 1579 with Roman numerals (the one from Romain Réa looks quite good)!
