I agree this trend may not reverse back to the early 1900s and therefore, I'm not seeing myself going into collecting vintage PPs...

but it's just me although there are phrases like "charming", "classic" to describe those.
In the case of the 7200/50G, the color and use of MOP + diamonds is indeed designed for the ladies. If the dial is somewhat different and no diamond, with a different strap it may work.
Now that I think about it, the reason Rolex came out with 36mm in recent years has their reasons. It is a good in-between size for both.
