Patek Philippe

I'm sure, generally speaking you're right.....

....when you say  "....I thought Patek no longer allowed dial exchanges....."  - that's also what I know as general policy.
Though, one never knows if there are some very special cases......

The "purely collectors perspective" - that's a bit more difficult IMO. Of course originallity is king - but if there was an "authorized" dial change, let's say some 10 or 15 years ago, which result in something well documented and hmmmm, almost unique.
I'm not sure this would sometimes be even more interesting for some collectors.

A dial change is a whole different story compared to a refinish/redial - and as I tried to pint out, even among different  "refinish" dials  can be a extremely huge gap.

I'll have to browse my archives a bit for some examples - it's a very interesting field IMO and soemthing extremely important
for the vintage collectors.  Terminology is another problem - it can be very "funny" if a (poorly refinished) dial is called "original" by the seller - and if argued about it he admits "yes, of course it's refinished, but it's still the original dial...." smile

Best regards
