For this simple reason, it’s been several years that Patek Philippe requires its ADs to fully unseal a watch (both the outer and the inner packaging) before consigning it to its owner. The outer box should then be discarded.
That being said, unfortunately you’ll always find flippers and speculators who try to acquire watches as valuable and sought after as a Patek Philippe (or a Rolex, FPJ, etc.). This is how the real world functions. But at least, that shouldn’t be a practice explicitly encouraged by an AD, in its official capacity of representing the brand in front of the collector community!😄 Hope this answers.
